Booze, Blood and Blogs!

I vant your blood (or plasma) - whichever

I don't know what's wrong with me. I wasn't looking for suggestions or a list but thank you for the thought. You know that I like to donate plasma - one of the ultimate recycling projects. They make it so difficult though. About a month ago I was put on hold from donating because my protein levels were low two donations in a row. I guess my protein levels were 5.5 and 5.7. You have to have above 6.0 to donate; totally understandable. But they called me TWICE and said I could come back after June 1st to donate again. So, I go in today, with the word sucker written all over my face, to find out I am supposed to wait 21 days from the last test. The last test was 20 days ago. I have an over-zealous obsession to be helpful but BioLife is making it very difficult for me to be charitable. Heartland Blood Centers has been stalking me like Vlad The Impaler and I may have to look into their eyes and become hypnotized soon. They call me every week wanting for me to donate blood. I feel like the plasma is helping more because it's twice a week rather than once every eight weeks. The bright side is now I can work-out today so as not to screw up my every other day thing.

While I was wasting my time driving across town this morning I saw that with all the rain The Mighty Kishissippi (Kishwaukee River) is pretty high again. At least our casinos are still open here.

I heard that through the recession in the United States alcohol (the booze-type) sales are up 10%. That doesn't surprise me and I imagine it doesn't surprise you. After I thought about it for awhile I think it makes really good sense. Not because of the obvious reason that people are trying to escape their lives for awhile but that people aren't going out as much. I bet if you broke alcohol sales at restaurants and bars out they would be down. People are probably drinking at home more now rather than drinking when they go out for dinner or just drinking at a pub just to be drinking. It makes perfect sense to me in so many ways. Cha Cha and I just discussed how we need to stop eating out so much as that is very expensive. I think the thing I like about eating out most is that I don't have to do the dishes three times a day.
Hey Alabama, mine's up....Up yours!
Alabama is putting forth one of the toughest anti-illegal-immigration bills into law. The law is to take effect September 1st. Legal Director for the Southern Poverty Law Center Mary Bauer said, “it is clearly unconstitutional. It’s mean-spirited, racist, and we think a court will enjoin it.” Arkansas will probably be next as the states beginning with "A" seem to be going this route (Arizona and Alabama so far). Maybe it's just states starting with vowels - didn't Utah do it too? Georgia gets special vowel dispensation. I don't know what the answer is but I agree that people who are not citizens of any particular country should not benefit from that country's monetary resources; especially when that country is in dire straights . Like usual I am in The MIDDLE on this issue. I am not really clear on the entire issue but I feel very strongly against discrimination and it seems like racial profiling to me to ask to see someone's papers for no reason. I do not walk around with "my papers." What papers should I have with me as an American citizen? I just think about movies like Moscow on the Hudson and have pictures in my mind of armed-guards standing on the Berlin Wall. Let's not go after the businesses that entice people from other countries to work for them at lower wages than our laws require (minimum wage) let's go after the poor people that are trying to feed their families however they can. Mark my blog...we are headed for another Civil War.

Why do hospitals need to advertise? "I was going to go to Joe The Voodoo Doctor but luckily I saw that commercial for that hospital because I didn't know that such a thing existed."  "Sorry your hospital bill is so high but our advertising budget has increased so we needed to raise our prices." Maybe they should forget the ads and just add alcohol to their cafeterias. Alcohol sales are up 10% and I don't see them advertising any more than they did before. If you don't know about hospitals just call 911 when you need to go there and it's like a hospital taxi. We really don't need to know which hospital to go to the ambulance driver knows the best one just for you.

Well, I have to get ready for my job interview. Of all of the ones that I have had this is the one that I want the most. It's more up my alley (TWSS) of what I want to do. No, it's not at a bowling alley or working for Kirstie (though that would be fun too if she needs a blogger or a podcaster). Try to stay dry today. Thank you for letting me vent; I didn't know I needed to but it seems like the tone of today's blog says I did. I am going to have a drink this afternoon whether it be to celebrate or console myself. TTTT...MITM (thinking maybe rum).
