I have nothing on my mind so I have no ideas what I am going to write today.
I suppose that writing about the National League Division Series is a good place to start. The Cubs beat the Pirates last night so the Cardinals and the Cubs will face-off in a best of five game series beginning tomorrow night to see who advances to the NLCS. I looked into getting tickets to one of the games and I found something very interesting - tickets to see the games at Wrigley Field are over twice as expensive as tickets to the games at Busch Stadium. I can think of many reasons for that difference but the one that makes the most sense is greed. Tickets in St. Louis are $120 each where the cheapest in Chicago are $280. I just checked one site so maybe they are just opportunistic (I am not that naive and I know all of the people selling tickets are smelling ivy green). I tried to get tickets the day they first went on sale (even before all the teams were all decided) but they were gone already at noon when the sales started at noon. Fabio and I went to one World Series game in St. Louis when they played the Tigers in 2006 and I thought it would be cool to go to a post-season game together again. Maybe I will just wait for the World Series again. I just want to watch some good baseball even it is in my living room. Do not ask me to go to a bar to watch one of the Cubs / Cards games because I will not do that.
Tonight is the night that I go to Chicago. I am going to try to find something different to do this week. I suppose I have done something different every week so this should not be an issue. I wish they had casinos in the city. Everything closes so early downtown on Thursday nights.
I am watching one of my favorite movies as I write this; I am watching Slap Shot. It is not a cinematic masterpiece but, if you like hockey, you like this movie. I always forget that Lily Braden wears a Cardinals' cap; no wonder I always liked her. I was a fan of strong women even back then. Every time I watch this movie I am always surprised that the mom from A Christmas Story bares her breasts. I guess she wasn't the mom from A Christmas Story for six more years. Where did the phrase "for the love of Mike" come from? Never mind, I found out "for Pete's sake!"
It's almost noon now and I have some things I need to get done. I will try to do something exciting tonight so I have something good to write about tomorrow. Maybe I will try to get mugged, I hope you have a great rest of your day and night. If you're in Chicago near State and Congress let me know if you want to hang-out. Can you believe that the Adler Planetarium even closes at 16:00? And you call yourself a toddlin' town. Thanks for stopping-by. TTTT...MITM (out) TA!
